Texoma Community Center (TCC) is one of 39 Texas Community Centers, which are governmental entities as defined by Title 7 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Starting Wage- depending on qualifications.
Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing skilled mentoring and coaching, paraprofessional aide, and assistance in job placement for adolescents and youth with a severe emotional disturbance. This position addresses a consumer’s symptom-related problems that may interfere with the individual’s functioning and living, working, and learning environment. Hours will be determined based on client need(s) but not to exceed 29 hours per week. May also be assigned duties of non-med transportation and in-home respite based on client need in wraparound plan. All services should be provided in the home or a community based setting to provide opportunities for consumers to acquire and improve skills needed to function as appropriately and independently as possible in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Texoma Community Center. Operates under trauma-informed and recovery-oriented models of care which align with CCBHC standards.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of one (1) year working with the YES Waiver population and/or documented experience including activities that are comparable to services specified under the service description and/or college level coursework indicating knowledgebase about population
Experience working with individuals with mental illness and/ or addiction issues desirable
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:
Current driver’s license and a vehicle for use at work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak a second language relevant to population served preferred
Must be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented
Knowledge of Office Suite
Consistently practices Trauma-informed Model of Care, understands and considers the pervasive nature of trauma.
The knowledge of cultural differences and ability to work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
