Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist – Microbiology (Day Shift)

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Compensation: $27.84 – $44.54 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Schedule: Day Shift Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

to join our Microbiology Department

in Charlottesville, VA. This day-shift position plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients through the performance of microbiological testing procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, maintain high-quality standards, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform microbiological testing including culture setup, organism identification, and susceptibility testing following established protocols.

Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to established procedures.

Accurately record and report test results to physicians and healthcare providers in a timely manner.

Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Maintain documentation in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.

Work effectively as part of a team to support laboratory operations and patient care initiatives.

Comply with all infection prevention, safety, and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:MLS/MLT 1 (Clinical Lab Scientist 1):

Education:

Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLS-accredited program

OR Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science field

Experience:

No prior laboratory experience required

Certification:

ASCP or equivalent certification required within 24 months of hireMLS/MLT 2 (Clinical Lab Scientist 2):

Education (one of the following):

Bachelor's Degree with completion of a NAACLS-accredited MLS/CLS program

OR Master's/PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or related science

OR Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, or related science with 3 years

of clinical lab experience

OR Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLS-accredited program with 4 years

of clinical lab experience

Certification:

ASCP or equivalent certification required within 24 months of hire
