ALEUT VENTURES LABORER

Status: Intermittent, Temporary, On-Call

Location: Adak, AK

JOB SUMMARY: Aleut Ventures is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Intermittent Laborers. This position provides on-call support for various janitorial, maintenance, carpentry, and operational tasks, ensuring clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities. Intermittent laborers will work on an as-needed basis with flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Embrace the mission, values, and strategic goals of Aleut Ventures and The Aleut Corporation (Aleut).

• Perform routine indoor and outdoor maintenance, including general repairs, carpentry, and minor construction projects.

• Conduct janitorial services, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies.

• Clean and maintain common areas, restrooms, and other facility spaces.

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as pressure washers, drills, saws, and backpack blowers.

• Assist with facility repairs, including painting, patching, and replacing fixtures.

• Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, weeding, and general landscaping.

• Provide directions and assistance to visitors and clients in a professional manner.

• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Adhere to company policies and procedures while maintaining a professional demeanor.

• Collect, transport, and dispose of garbage and recyclable materials safely (lifting up to 50 lbs).

• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Be a self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.

• Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.

• Strong awareness of workplace safety and the ability to follow safety procedures.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.

• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•Prior experience in general labor, maintenance, or custodial work.

• Experience operating farm or landscaping equipment is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• General office demands.

• This is a physically demanding role requiring regular lifting, carrying, and movement. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

• Work may be performed in outdoor and indoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather.
