Ameritex Machine and Fabrication is a high mix low volume sheet metal and structural fabrication facility that uses a variety of equipment such as CNC Fiber Lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes, and tube lasers to support over 19 production and assembly lines. The company serves customers in energy, oil and gas, automotive, electric vehicle, and aerospace. We operate out of a state of the art 100,000 sqft facility in Conroe, Texas.

Reports to: Engineering Team Lead

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer 1 to join our fast-paced, collaborative team. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals with a foundational engineering background and a strong interest in hands-on technical work. The Engineer 1 will contribute to a variety of tasks, including engineering design, machine / CAM programming, and estimating/quoting for new and existing projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow in a flexible role that spans design, manufacturing, and customer-facing estimating. You will receive on-the-job training in advanced manufacturing technologies and tools, and you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Support engineering team in the design of components, assemblies, and systems

· Create 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks)

· Develop and modify machine programs for manufacturing parts using CAM software

· Assist in the estimation and quoting of new jobs, including material, labor, and machining time

· Collaborate with fabrication and machining teams to optimize design for manufacturability

· Analyze prototype performance and assist in troubleshooting and iteration

· Prepare accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and maintain engineering documentation

· Help ensure products meet safety, quality, and environmental standards

· Communicate technical details clearly to customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders

· Participate in project meetings and status updates with the engineering team

Qualifications and Required Skills

· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

· 2-4 years of relevant experience in engineering, machine programming, or quoting roles

· Basic proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)

· Exposure to metal fabrication & manufacturing

· Strong attention to detail with a desire to learn and grow across disciplines

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

· Basic understanding of welding symbols and machining processes is a plus

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

· Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

· Familiarity with quoting or estimating software

· Familiarity with machine programming & CAM software

· Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
