Salary Range: $15/class + DOQ
Reports to: Skate Supervisor

Summary
As a Skate Instructor, the primary focus is the responsibility of teaching the basic fundamentals of skating. Demonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques, and methods of proper movements to achieve proficiency in activity. Explains and enforces safety, rules, and regulations. Keeps records and helps coordinate events. The Instructor is also responsible for keeping the Skate Supervisor and parents informed of activities and other important rink information.

Teach assigned group lessons in an enthusiastic, educational, and organized fashion in accordance with the Skate School Curriculum
Distribute flyers and other rink information to program participants
Maintain weekly class attendance and skill accomplishment records
Verbally communicate progress of students and promote rink activity to parents
Attend scheduled staff meetings
Secure substitute teachers when necessary and notify supervisor of need to miss a class
Be available before and after class to answer parent questions or address concerns
Be an active participant in any Inwood Ice Arena skating event
Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe
Report accidents and injuries and complete accident reports as required
Hours
Part time, with a flexible schedule. May include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work environment
The position is primarily indoors and on the ice rink. When working in the Ice Arena, the environment is always cold.

While performing the duties of this position, employee must be able to perform moderately physically intensive tasks, potentially including any combination of the following: climbing, balancing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, repetitive motions, substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers. The majority of time is spent standing and involves stamina on the ice.
Education and Experience
Some high school classwork required
High School Diploma or GED preferred
One year experience leading or teaching children figure skating preferred
Experience ice skating required
Additional eligibility requirements
Knowledge of Learn to Skate USA and/or ISI Learn to Skate Curriculum
CPR/AED certification required within 30 days of hire
Must be at least 16 years of age
