Job Description
Job Purpose: Under the direction of the department manager or supervisor, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program
Required Licenses/Certifications: CMRT by the Texas Medical Board, ARRT, BLS certifications required
Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year radiology experience required with preference in hospital setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist.
•Receives and reviews request for radiologic studies
•Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements
•Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
•Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standards.
•Explain and prepare the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
•Interview patients and review available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure
•Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
•Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray room in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
•Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting order for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.
•Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance
•Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job related hazards.
•Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
•Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions
•Wears proper identification while on duty
