Design Engineer

A.L. Hansen Mfg. Co., an ISO-9001 certified company, and leading manufacturer in the commercial hardware industry located in Waukegan, IL is looking for a Designer to join our growing team.

Primary purpose of job:

Design new products and revise existing products using current software. Distribute updates. Maintain and record databases and files.

Requirements

1. Design concepts and new components using CAD system and free hand sketches.

2. Redesign and redraw existing products using CAD system.

3. Process engineering/cost analysis; new and existing components and assemblies.

4. Communicate with and visit sales reps., venders, and customers.

5. Maintain project folders.

6. Maintain and update various engineering database records.

7.Maintain ECN/ECO backlog .

8. Copy drawings using copy machine.

9. Produce prototype parts using common tool room machinery.

Required skills, licenses, knowledge, experience or abilities:

1. Must be skilled in using Autodesk 3D Inventor or Solidworks 3D design software.

2. Must have knowledge and skill using radius, thread, angle and height gauges, and common hand measuring tools.

3. Experience or familiarity with plotter, copy machine, fax machine and blueprint machine.

4. Must have knowledge of machine shop practices and manufacturing processes including but not limited to metal stamping, injection molding and die casting.

5.Ability to understand the needs of customers and venders and organize and process that need into product

6. Oral and written communication skills, above average creativity, ability to interpret concepts and idea

7. Two Years of college in engineering related field or 7 years of design experience.

8. Experience with design techniques utilizing various types of materials such as stainless steel, cold rolled steel, aluminum and plastics.

9. Experience with Microsoft Office software.

10. Three years of directly related design experience in mechanical engineering.

Additional Qualifications (Not necessary, but very beneficial):

3D Printing experience.

Experience with Profit Key Software and ERP processes.

TEAMS software experience and/or integration and implementation
