Allied Gold is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Geotechnical Engineering to lead our geotechnical function across all open-pit mining operations. This role will provide technical oversight, governance and support to site-based geotechnical teams while ensuring the highest standards of pit slope design, stability management and geotechnical risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering within large-scale open-pit operations and a proven track record in leadership and corporate-level advisory roles. The successful candidate will be able to meet the criteria to act as a Qualified Person (QP) under NI 43-101 and will be responsible for contributing to technical reports and disclosures.

Position Responsibilities

Provide corporate-level oversight and technical guidance on geotechnical engineering practices across all open-pit operations, in accordance with the level of study (Scoping, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility).

Take responsibility for the ongoing development and regular updates of geotechnical models, including:

Structural Model – capturing the geological and structural features that influence slope stability.

Material Properties Model – defining geomechanical parameters based on laboratory testing and site data.

Hydrogeological Model – integrating groundwater flow and pore pressure data for accurate slope behavior prediction.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve geotechnical standards, guidelines, and governance frameworks.

Review and endorse pit slope designs, stability assessments, ground control strategies and risk management plans.

Lead or participate in geotechnical reviews, audits and independent technical assessments.

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to site geotechnical teams, providing mentorship and support on complex technical issues.

Collaborate with Mine Planning, Operations and HSE teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into operational and long-term plans.

Oversee the implementation and analysis of monitoring systems (e.g., radar, prisms, piezometers) to ensure early detection of geotechnical hazards.

Report regularly to Corporate Technical Services and Executive Management on geotechnical performance, risks and mitigation strategies.

Manage external consultants and ensure alignment with internal standards and project requirements.

Contribute to the development of capital and sustaining projects from a geotechnical perspective, including feasibility studies and due diligence reviews.

Act as a Qualified Person (QP) under NI 43-101 for the review and sign-off of technical disclosures, including geotechnical parameters to be used for Mineral Reserve estimates.

Position Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related discipline. A Masters in a relevant field is an asset.

Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province, or equivalent, for at least five (5) years.

Minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of geotechnical experience in open-pit mining, with at least five (5) years in a senior or corporate-level role.

Strong knowledge of slope design, ground support systems, rock mass characterization and monitoring technologies.

Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities within multi-disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong project management and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skill in English, French is an asset.

Exposure to underground geotechnical challenges is an asset.

Familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g., Slide, RS2, FLAC, RocFall, etc.).

Willingness to travel to Allied Gold's operations and offices, as required.
