The France Foundation is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Medical Content Writer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will take the lead in translating educational strategy into compelling, scientifically sound, and engaging content for live and online continuing medical education (CME) activities. You will work closely with internal teams, clinical experts, and external partners to shape content that supports healthcare providers and improves patient outcomes.

What You Will Do:

As the Medical Content Writer, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and accuracy of medical content across a range of CME activities. You will ensure that all content reflects current evidence-based clinical practice, meets accreditation standards (ACCME, ANCC, ACPE), and upholds fair balance and transparency. This role is instrumental in delivering high-quality education that aligns with The France Foundation’s commitment to innovation, compliance, and impact in healthcare education.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development, review, and refinement of medical content for certified continuing medical education (CME) programs across multiple therapeutic areas, ensuring scientific accuracy, clarity, and clinical relevance

Collaborate with internal teams (education development, outcomes, accreditation, project management, interactive) and external faculty to translate educational needs into high-quality learning materials for live, virtual, and enduring presentation formats

Ensure all content complies with accreditation standards (ACCME, ANCC, ACPE), is evidence-based, and adheres to guidelines for fair balance, commercial independence, and transparency

Oversee the creation and editing of slide decks, scripts, educational articles, podcasts, animations, panel discussions, learner assessments, and outcomes reports, ensuring each connects to and supports the needs assessment and learning objectives for each project

Serve as the clinical content lead during project development and activity execution, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all components

Review and respond to feedback from learners and stakeholders, incorporating improvements and ensuring that future content reflects best practices in adult learning and medical education

Content Development:

Develop and update medical content across multiple therapeutic areas and formats, including slides, scripts, and online modules

Work with clinical experts to plan and create educational content that meets program goals

Stay current on medical research and guidelines in assigned therapeutic areas

Review and summarize clinical data to create accurate, relevant, and engaging content as it relates to clinical practice

Review and audit educational content at select live or virtual programs to ensure quality and compliance

Adult Learning and Guidelines

Apply adult learning principles to ensure content is engaging, relevant, and supports the practical application of clinical knowledge in real-world settings

Design educational materials that are learner-centered, promote active participation, and enhance retention of critical medical information

Collaborate with instructional designers to integrate effective teaching strategies and ensure content accessibility across different learning platforms

Align content with current clinical guidelines and best practices to ensure educational programs reflect the latest evidence in healthcare

Evaluate and adjust content based on learner feedback and outcomes data to improve effectiveness and ensure continuous educational impact

Develop educational objectives that are measurable, achievable, and linked to desired changes in practice, aligning with the ACCME, ANCC, and ACPE standards

Develop questions for learner evaluations that assess the extent to which learners have gained knowledge and confidence in their ability to improve patient outcomes as a result of educational programs

This Role Might Be for you if you have…

A strong background in creating, reviewing, and editing medical content, preferably in a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting, with an understanding of medical terminology and regulatory standards

The ability to distill complex medical information into clear, engaging, and accessible content for a variety of audiences, including healthcare professionals and patients

Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, quality, and compliance are met. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams is a plus

A meticulous eye for accuracy, ensuring that all medical content adheres to the latest scientific evidence and regulatory guidelines

Comfort with working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy

A genuine interest in contributing to healthcare education and improving patient outcomes through well-crafted, scientifically accurate content

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, communications, project management, or a related field

3+ years of experience in medical content creation, medical writing, or a related field, preferably in healthcare or pharmaceuticals

Experience with medical and pharmaceutical regulations, including FDA, EMA, and other industry-specific guidelines

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and content management systems

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail

Proven ability to create accurate, clear, and scientifically sound medical content that is tailored to different audiences (healthcare professionals, patients, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, education, a related field, or, advanced degree in clinical or biological sciences

Familiarity with AI software and the ability to utilize AI to support and facilitate medical content development

Experience developing performance and quality improvement-based education and training

Certification in medical writing (e.g., American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) certification) or other relevant certifications is a plus

Experience in healthcare education, particularly in developing educational materials or training programs for healthcare professionals

Experience in the nonprofit or foundation sector, specifically in areas related to public health or patient education

Interest in healthcare and continuing education, with a passion for improving patient care and healthcare outcomes through effective educational programs

Our hybrid environment offers you the option of working from home two days per week. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines.

Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $95,000 - $125,000.
