Responsibilities
Responsible for SQL and PL/SQL development to include: developing the backend reports to support user needs; developing custom scripts to automate various database management processes, monitoring and troubleshooting database performance; developing, optimizing, and tuning stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and queries in support of application development; interfacing with customers, users, and developers as needed; maintaining the database schema, database design, and transition development activities; providing technical subject matter expertise (SME) on ingesting into the database from sources such as file systems, and perform maintenance, to include tuning with various transition implementation strategies with in-house developed applications; resolving various database issues, to include problems with data modeling, design, queries, security control, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and import/export data, as well as coordinate with data ingest efforts with regard to database operations; auditing performance by performing advanced activities such as load testing, response time testing; and providing a report on these activities on an on-going basis so that overall system performance may be documented and charters in the service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (Oracle and Postgres)
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration, tuning, and optimization
5 years of experience with BS/BA degree
Desired Qualifications:
AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Database Specialty)
Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Grafana, or pgBadger
Knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization techniques
Experience with database high availability and disaster recovery strategies
Experience with automation tools for database administration tasks
Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar
Knowledge of database security best practices
Background in agile development environments
Experience with JIRA Ticketing systems preferred
Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies
Demonstrated experience migrating data from Oracle to PostgreSQL
Expertise in table partitioning strategies in PostgreSQL
Proven ability to set up and configure database monitoring solutions
Experience writing custom monitoring queries and scripts
Experience in creating and maintaining database ERDs
Proficiency with ETL tools and processes
Experience with database upgrade planning and execution
Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries
Familiarity with Jira for issue tracking and project management
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
