Transylvania University invites applications for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. This role serves as a backup to the Payroll Manager, processing payroll when needed. The specialist will handle biweekly and monthly payrolls, reconcile benefits enrollments with premium deductions and billing statements, and maintain detailed payroll records. Additionally, the position requires compliance with payroll regulations, responding to employee inquiries, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless payroll and benefits administration. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist plays a key role in enhancing efficiency and accuracy in payroll processes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Essential Duties:

Assist the Payroll Manager in the administration of payroll, including serving as the backup as needed.

Accurately process biweekly and monthly payrolls in the absence of the Payroll Manager.

Assist in the review of payroll processing to ensure accurate payment of wages, salaries, stipends and deductions.

Verify and reconcile benefit enrollments each month against premium deductions and billing statements.

Create and maintain documentation of processes for reconciliation of payroll and benefit accounts.

Reconcile GL accounts related to all benefit plans each month, identifying discrepancies and submitting corrections to the Payroll Manager.

Maintain accurate payroll records and update employee information as needed.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Prepare and submit required payroll reports.

Address employee questions regarding payroll or benefit deductions.

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required for reconciliation and audit processes.

Assist with the creation and distribution of W-2 and 1095-C forms.

Secondary Duties:

Performs other duties that may be assigned or required.
