In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers, driving engineering excellence specifically within our dynamic machine shop and welding/fabrication operations. Your expertise will be crucial in the planning, design, and implementation of efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing processes tailored to the unique demands of a job shop setting. Your hands-on understanding of machining, welding, and fabrication in this context will be essential to your success.

Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership and management to the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment within a job shop setting.

Oversee the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes specifically related to machining, welding, and fabrication within a job shop environment, handling diverse materials and project requirements.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance quality in a job shop environment with varied production runs.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and shop floor personnel, to swiftly resolve technical challenges inherent in a job shop.

Manage a variety of engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, while effectively handling the flexibility and changes common in job shop operations.

Develop and maintain practical engineering standards and procedures relevant to job shop machining, welding, and fabrication.

Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards within the shop environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) is required.

Extensive and demonstrable experience in an engineering leadership role within a machine shop and welding/fabrication job shop environment is absolutely essential.

Proven track record of successfully managing diverse engineering projects and teams in a job shop setting.

Strong hands-on knowledge of job shop manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick), fabrication methods, and material handling specific to job shop operations.

Deep understanding of quality control methodologies and continuous improvement principles as applied in a job shop.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced job shop.
