Typical task breakdown:
In this position, others define and select the control modules, sensors, and other major components, and it is the responsibility of this engineer to connect the major components together without compromising system performance.
At the same time the overall system must be easy to assemble and cost efficient.
The engineering disciplines applicable include 24 volt electrical system design, machine design, strength of materials, structural fatigue, noise/vibration/harshness(NVH), and heat transfer.
The type of component-level design in scope includes wiring harnesses, battery cables, simple fabricated steel structures, and component mounting systems.
A majority of the work involves routing cables and harnesses to meet all requirements, followed by overseeing the process of creating the related detailed drawings and releasing the drawings for production implementation.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required (electrical engineering preferred) with five to seven years of engineering experience.
With no engineering degree, 8-10 years of design engineering experience required.
Technical Skills:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
Ability to read and interpret 2D technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field.
Recent minimum of six months of experience with PTC Creo required.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills (Specifically English Language).
Attention Detail
