Graphic Designer I
Employment Type: Contract through December 31, 2025 (High potential for extension)
Location: Jackson, MI 49201
Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Remote: Wednesday, Friday)
Position Overview
CMS Energy is seeking a Graphic Designer I to join our Visual Design and Multimedia team, a part of our 20–25-person creative services department. This hybrid role requires a well-rounded creative professional with demonstrated experience in both graphic design and video production/editing. The ideal candidate will be local to Jackson, MI, and able to travel to the Jackson office approximately once per week, with occasional field assignments across Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with a lean video team to support editing and video production efforts
Assist with field photography and videography for marketing and communications
Contribute to external communications including paid media, social campaigns, and brand marketing
Support graphic design needs for product marketing and internal projects
Serve as an in-house editor working closely with writers, designers, and marketers
Required Skills & Experience
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Strong video editing experience using Adobe Premiere
Experience with video shooting for both social media and traditional platforms
Knowledge of timeline-based editing and storytelling
Working familiarity with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Animate
Strong eye for design, layout, and visual storytelling
Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia, or related field preferred
1–3 years of relevant professional experience in graphic design and video production
Must have access to reliable transportation for occasional field travel
Portfolio required showcasing both graphic design and video/photography work

Candidates must be local to Jackson, MI, or willing to relocate within commuting distance
This is a hybrid position, with both remote and onsite responsibilities
