The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Weld Engineer to join our team in Groton.
The primary function of the Welding Engineer is to act as welding process owner. You will oversee performance in welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving the repair of Co & Ni based super alloy and stainless steel castings.
Key Responsibilities of this role include:
Supporting, advising, and coordinating technical personnel in performing inspection to ensure workers compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standard in testing welds for conformance with national code requirement or testing welding personnel for certification.
Evaluating new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production process.
Establishing welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material process, customer set-up specifications, pre and post heating requirements which involve use of Ni based alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex heat-treating requirements.
Assisting engineering personnel in testing and evaluating welding equipment, methods, shield gasses, NDT yields and alloys.
Recording inspections, documentations, and processing results to engineering and manufacturing. Developing training programs, training records, and skills matrix for welders.
