Senior Hardware Engineer – Autonomous Sensor Systems
Location: MI (Hybrid)
We’re working with a leading innovator in autonomous vehicle technology that is transforming the future of freight and logistics. Backed by decades of experience and deep industry partnerships, this company is building cutting-edge autonomous systems for heavy-duty vehicles. They're now looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their Sensor Systems team to help drive forward development of complex sensing solutions in safety-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
Lead hardware design and validation efforts for sensors including LiDAR, radar, cameras, INS, and microphones.
Author and manage technical requirements using DOORS/Jama, ensuring traceability and system-level alignment.
Collaborate with Tier-1 suppliers and internal teams to deliver robust, automotive-grade sensor integrations.
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for lab and real-world trials, ensuring performance meets functional safety and regulatory standards.
Contribute to problem-solving efforts during prototyping and production phases, supporting continuous improvement.
Requirements:
6+ years in electrical or hardware engineering (or 3+ years with a Master's) with sensor integration experience.
Deep understanding of one or more sensor modalities, with the ability to model performance and validate systems in real-world environments.
Familiarity with automotive ECUs, data buses (CAN, Ethernet, I2C, etc.), and high-speed signal integrity.
Strong documentation and communication skills, plus the ability to thrive in cross-functional, cross-time-zone teams.
