Title: Principal Failure Analysis Engineer – Field Support

Location : Mankato, MN

Duration : fulltime - direct hire

Salary : $90,000 to $135,000 - yearly + benefits

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct in-depth investigations into complex field failures of internal combustion engines.

Gather and analyze data on failure events, including environmental and operational conditions.

Perform on-site inspections, diagnostic testing, and tear-downs using specialized tools.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) using methods like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and fault tree analysis.

Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on investigation outcomes.

Design and test product or component modifications; update technical documentation and service materials.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams on improvements and issue resolution.

Provide advanced troubleshooting support to field technicians, customers, and internal teams.

Analyze field data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Prepare detailed reports outlining investigation results and recommendations.

Stay current on failure analysis techniques and industry best practices.

Maintain strong customer relationships through clear communication and professional support.

Promote a culture of compliance aligned with the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.

Support special projects as needed.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with 5+ years of experience in failure analysis or service engineering of internal combustion engines, or 9+ years of relevant experience without a degree.

Willingness to travel up to 75%.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practical application in engine design and production.

In-depth mechanical or electrical expertise, including repair, maintenance, and overhaul of diesel engines.

Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and customer engagement.
