Data Specialist

Seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Data Specialist to develop automated solutions for extracting data from a variety of file formats—including PDFs, spreadsheets, and text files—and transforming that data into structured formats suitable for SQL-based storage and analysis. The ideal candidate will build dynamic, flexible Python scripts to handle inconsistently formatted files, design and create SQL tables, and leverage Power BI to produce meaningful visual insights from the imported data.

Role and Responsibilities

Develop Python scripts to dynamically read and extract relevant data from a wide range of file formats (e.g., PDFs, Excel, CSV, TXT). PDF formats will be the most predominant.

Handle complex and inconsistent file structures with custom logic to reliably parse data.

Design, build, and maintain relational SQL tables to store extracted data.

Automate end-to-end Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) workflows, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and traceability.

Use Power BI to create interactive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights based on trends in the imported data.

Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and continuously improve reporting accuracy and clarity.

Maintain thorough documentation of processes, code, data flows, and report logic.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Python with a strong background in data processing and automation.

Experience working with PDF and other file parsing libraries.

Solid knowledge of relational databases such as SQL.

Experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, report building, and visualization best practices.

Familiarity with data validation and QA techniques.

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
