Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Contract)
Location: Columbia, TN LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY - NO RELOCATION
Shift: 1st Shift Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Overtime: Mandatory OT as needed, potentially up to 12-hour shifts
Duration: 6+ weeks
Reason for Need: This contract role supports plant operations during the facility's active shutdown process.
Position Summary
The Contract Maintenance Technician will be responsible for preventive, planned, and emergency maintenance activities within a Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting ongoing operations during the facility's shutdown process.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to and repair machine breakdowns
Complete minor maintenance tasks as needed
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance procedures
Install and relocate plant equipment and systems
Fabricate components, workstations, and fixtures
Modify equipment to improve quality, efficiency, and safety
Maintain accurate records of procedures, time, and materials
Support emergency repairs outside of normal hours
Assist production operations as needed
Perform basic electrical troubleshooting
Conduct general facility maintenance (plumbing, painting, carpentry)
Stop production lines when safety or quality issues arise
Support environmental compliance efforts (spills, reporting, cleanup)
Participate in safety audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Report safety hazards, incidents, or emergencies to leadership
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and plant procedures
Fulfill responsibilities as defined by BOS system policies
Complete required training provided by Adient and its customers
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
Understand and apply Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs)

Qualifications
Education:
Technical school graduate in a related field OR
Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance technician role
Experience:
2+ years in maintenance within a manufacturing environment
Experience operating equipment such as lathe, milling machine, bandsaws, grinders, and drill presses
Skills & Competencies:
Strong reading comprehension and communication skills
Ability to communicate clearly in one-on-one and small group settings
Solid mathematical and analytical skills, including basic arithmetic and applied problem-solving
Proficient with computer systems and standard office software
Ability to create visual aids for effective communication
Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems is a plus
