We are looking for an experienced Senior Propulsion Engineer – Fluid Systems to lead the design, analysis, and integration of spacecraft propulsion fluid systems. This role involves defining requirements, coordinating with vendors, supporting system modeling, and driving verification through testing. The ideal candidate has a strong background in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, propulsion components, and system-level integration, with experience in both development and flight certification.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and support the design, development and maturation of propulsion fluid systems, including feedlines, regulators, valves, tanks and pressurization systems

Utilize modeling and simulation tools to evaluate system performance, fluid dynamics, thermal effects, and transient behaviors

Perform detailed sizing and selection of propulsion system components, ensuring compatibility with performance, thermal, and structural constraints

Evaluate and select materials with compatibility in oxygen-rich environments, ensuring resistance to ignition, combustion, and degradation under operational conditions

Drive and support propulsion system and fluid component testing to anchor analytical models, validate simulations, and refine system performance predictions

Define, coordinate and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle

Define, plan, and execute system and component-level tests, including development, qualification, and acceptance tests

Coordinate and manage technical requirements, design verification activities, and schedules with external vendors

Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews, ensuring compliance with system requirements and project milestones

Collaborate with avionics, structures, thermal, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful integration of propulsion fluid systems

Work closely with the engine team to ensure fluid system design aligns with engine performance requirements

Perform additional job duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or related field, over 4 - 9 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to address project challenges

Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet tight deadlines and quality objectives

Highly desired experience in spacecraft propulsion system design, analysis principles, tools, and processes

3D modeling software knowledge, such as SolidWorks is preferred

Analysis software knowledge, such as ANSYS, Easy5, Fluent, GFSSP, NASTRAN, ROCCID, ROCETS preferred

Proficiency in programming languages like Python or MATLAB is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task

Requirements

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

Work may require travel to and from office, production, and test locations

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
