Description:

APIC Corporation, headquartered in Culver City, California, is a pioneer in photonics technology development with a 25-year history. The company specializes in chip-scale optical links and networks for chip-to-chip data communications. APIC's cutting-edge proprietary technologies have been developed over two decades, supported by $150 million in government contracts, including sponsorship from DARPA and the US Navy. Currently, APIC is transitioning from research and development to prototyping and volume production of photonically enhanced edge and embedded computers and servers, with the ultimate goal of building high-performance computers and supercomputers.

APIC is seeking a highly skilled and innovative engineer to lead the development and implementation of an advanced semi-automated measurement system for photonic integrated circuits. The successful candidate will establish a state-of-the-art testing platform, manage measurement processes in collaboration with supporting staff, and drive efficiency in photonic and electrical testing under both DC and RF conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a semi-automated probe station equipped with simultaneous electrical and photonic testing capabilities, ensuring precision under DC and high-frequency (RF) conditions.

Select, install, and program advanced test equipment to enable automated data collection and analysis.

Conduct high-frequency (RF) and high-speed digital (> 25 Gbps) measurements under optical stimulus to optimize device performance.

Collaborate with process integration engineers to design and validate electronic-photonic test chips, ensuring seamless integration with measurement systems.

Develop and maintain test programs tailored for electronic-photonic test chips, optimizing automation and efficiency in data acquisition.

Required Qualifications:

Extensive hands-on experience in semiconductor and optical device measurement, including modulators, photodetectors, lasers, and other photonic components.

Proven expertise in automation of semiconductor and photonic test systems, including proficiency with VNA, ONA, and BER instruments.

Strong knowledge of high-frequency (RF) measurement techniques, including RF calibration procedures, ensuring accurate data acquisition.

Proficiency in networking and programming for efficient transfer of measurement data across remote locations, enhancing accessibility for distributed engineering teams.

Exceptional teamwork, communication, and presentation skills to coordinate effectively with professionals across diverse physical locations.

· The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a collaborative mindset, and an ability to drive innovation in photonic measurement automation.

· Education - Minimum MS in Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred) with emphasis on semiconductor devices and silicon photonics with emphasis on characterization.

· Experience - MS in Electrical Engineering with > 5 years of experience with a photonic company with emphasis on measurements, or Ph.D. with experience in the area of testing photonic chips.

· Citizenship – Due to legal requirements, applicants must be a US Citizen or current green card holder.
