The Axel Group is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist / Industrial Hygienist to add to their team. This position is a hybrid, full-time position in their Malvern, PA office. This position offers a motivated professional the opportunity to work in a dynamic small business environment, where both field and office responsibilities are integral to the role.
This position is ideal for someone who is self-directed, self-orientated, and eager to contribute to meaningful environmental health and safety projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos inspections, lead-based paint surveys, and indoor air quality (IAQ) and mold investigations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
Perform field sampling for hazardous materials and complete proper chain-of-custody documentation.
Document site conditions thoroughly, including field notes, photographs, temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content readings.
Prepare accurate, concise field reports and inspection documentation based on survey findings and project scope.
Maintain and build positive working relationships with clients, team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Current certifications and training preferred for:
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
Asbestos AHERA Inspector / Project Monitor
Lead Inspector / Risk Assessor
EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician
Minimum of 2 years of field experience in one or more of the following: Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, soil and ground sampling, asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality (IAQ), mold, water intrusion investigations, industrial hygiene, or facility assessments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field data documentation tools.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
