Job Title: Network/ IT Engineer
Location: Onsite 5 days a week – Berkeley, CA
Employment Type: 6-month contract with possibility of getting extended
About the Role
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure across a dynamic manufacturing site. This role will focus on ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant network and system operations that align with IT infrastructure and GxP manufacturing standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation in networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration with the ability to execute tasks independently and collaborate across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain network infrastructure including routing, switching, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, FTP, and VPNs
Support and troubleshoot firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet) and apply appropriate access controls
Implement and manage security zones, NAT, IDS/IPS, and other cybersecurity technologies
Maintain and harden OS environments across Windows, Linux, and MacOS platforms
Update and document network topologies and infrastructure diagrams
Support infrastructure projects and system patching as needed
Collaborate with site teams to execute IT tasks in GxP-regulated areas and ensure IT compliance
Provide on-site support in server rooms across various campus buildings
Use scripting tools (e.g., Python, Powershell, Ansible) to automate and streamline tasks
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in an OT, IT, or Network Security role
Experience in a Pharmaceutical Industry
Understanding of GxP, GMP, or pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, OSI model, switching, routing)
Hands-on experience with firewall configurations and access control
Experience securing and managing multiple operating systems
Familiarity with infrastructure documentation and network topology diagrams
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
