Sr. Infrastructure Engineer

3 Month Contract to Hire

Location: San Jose, CA

Pay: $50/hr+ (depending on experience)

A client in San Jose, CA is looking to bring on a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to join their team. This will be a 3-month contract hybrid position with possible extensions, working on a hybrid schedule. They will be working on building secure storage and computing environments for edge servers and clusters in the semiconductor industry. This role will mainly focus on developing automation tools for installing, upgrading, and patching software on edge devices.

Additional responsibilities include:

Design, deploy, and optimize software running on edge environments

Develop and maintain automation for edge device software lifecycle (installation, upgrade, patching)

Ensure security, availability, and performance while optimizing cost and maintaining compliance guardrails

Participate in the on-call rotation, identify issues, and lead resolution and blameless Root Cause Analyses (RCAs)

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field - Strong experience in shell scripting

5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or a similar field

Strong expertise in Linux systems

Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Knowledge of scripting languages such as JAVA, Bash, Groovy, Python, PowerShell, or Scala

Hands-on experience with DevSecOps and IT security practices including encryption and key management, certificates and patch management, and security hardening and auditing

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

Knowledge of cloud automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, Packer)

Understanding of networking technologies such as firewalls, web security, REST APIs

Familiarity with code review and architecture review processes

Experience with a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) tools like Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift
