The City of Valdez Solid Waste Department is hiring a temporary Office Assistant from early June to late August This position, under supervision of the Solid Waste Supervisor, will be tasked with data entry, updating manuals and policies, small office projects and tasks, and other office assistant related duties.
May need to answer phone and address customer inquiries.
Worksite will be located in the Baler office building at 500 S.
Sawmill Drive.
This is a temporary, non-benefited position working up to 37.5 hours per week.
Position is open until filled, review of applications begins May 30, 2025.
Knowledge, skills, and other characteristics: * Must have the ability to read, interpret, and format documentation.
* Must have strong typing and proofreading skills.
* Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
* Must be a strong communicator either via text, email, phone, or in-person.
Physical requirements and work environment: * Position works primarily inside.
* Occasionally work happens near moving mechanical parts.
* Frequent walking/standing, sitting, kneeling, and bending.
* Noise level is moderately noisy.
Minimum qualifications: * Must be at least 18 years old * Must have High School Diploma or GED * Should have a minimum of 1 year experience in an office environment.
