In this position...
You will work cross-functionally and closely with integrated teams in Manufacturing, Product Development, and Supplier Technical Assistance. Supervise and lead engine teardown investigations, to identify root causes for customer failures occurring in the field, at our VO customers, and for internal quality concerns. Attention to detail and organizational skills are key for this role.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
Log in engine returns
Ensure engine teardowns are prioritized to 24-hour shot clock
Prepare teardown reports for Quality reviews within the plant and in other areas.
Schedule and conduct required teardown testing
Review teardown findings with manufacturing and PD teams
Support 8D resolution for quality concerns
Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including Machining, Production and Suppliers
Pull part drawing / CAD to check suspect parts against specification.
Work with supplier to arrange shipment of defective/suspect parts back to suppliers if needed.
Decision making on liability of defect.
Supervise and pay hourly techs
Ensure Hot run/Teardown area meets 5S compliance
Schedule PM maintenance as required
Provide work plan as needed to support launch activities
Work Off-shift assignments if/when necessary
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications
You'll have...
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering
Even better, you may have...
Bachelor's degree (mechanical engineering preferred)
5+ years of experience focusing on Quality
2+ years of previous Engine Teardown and FMA (failure mode analysis) experience
Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives
Proven problem-solving ability
Microsoft Office Knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
Prior experience working with union personnel
Previous automotive and quality analysis experience
