Introduction Forest Technician- Summer Seasonal\n(2) Seasonal Contractual\n\n(1) Position June 2025 through July 2025 (1) Position July 2025 throughAugust 2025\n\n GRADE 9998\n LOCATION OF POSITION 328 A East Nicodemus Road Westminster, MD 21157\n Main Purpose of Job The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Forest Service, Morgan Run Field Office\n(Westminster, MD), is currently accepting applications for a (2) Seasonal Contractual Forest Technician.
This\nposition will support forest inventory and data collection efforts to inform forest stewardship planning.\nResponsibilities include collecting data for long-term riparian buffer afforestation and reforestation projects,\ngenerating maps for data collection and project implementation, assisting with forest stewardship and planting\nplans, performing routine facilities maintenance, and completing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:\n\n1.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.\n2.
Working towards a degree in natural resource management from an accredited university or program.\n\nExperience:\n\n1.
Minimum one field season experience with forest stand delineation and data collection.\n2.
Minimum one field season of experience with riparian buffer maintenance, monitoring, and datacollection.\n\n DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \n1.
Forestry major/minor preferred.\n2.
Demonstrated proficiency with ArcPro GIS software.\n3.
Ability to identify native trees and shrubs of the Piedmont Mid-Atlantic ecoregion.\n4.

Report all education and experience related to the essential functions of this position.\n\n\nFor education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.\n BENEFITS Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.
The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.
You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period.
