Job Description:
As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, the CAD Designer will collaborate with engineers to design complex and robust military communication equipment as well as support existing products and cost reduction initiatives. Design skills will be applied to develop robust electronic packaging solutions for use in harsh environments. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, the candidate will be exposed to all aspects of the product development cycle which include but are not limited to; concept design, prototype/discovery testing, supply chain and manufacturing activities. Products are typically designed and tested to MIL-STD-810 environmental standards therefore experience and/or exposure in designing products for military applications is preferred but not required. Candidate shall have strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a passion for solving complex problems through innovation. Working with peers and cross-functional team members, the candidate will help provide world-class products to our customers through quality performance in the essential functions that follow.
Essential Functions:
Provide mechanical design support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products with CREO
Apply GD&T to part drawings
Perform stack-up analysis
Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as required
Work directly with mechanical engineers on CAD models and part documentation
Apply creative thinking to resolve design challenges
Eligible to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant CAD experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related CAD experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related CAD experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
PTC Creo 3D CAD
Experience with AutoCAD
Defense/Military electronics packaging experience
Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 environmental standards
Experience in performing tolerance stack-up analysis
Experience in the use of 3D CAD (preferably PTC Creo).
Preferred experience in design of electronic equipment. Secondary experience in design of industrial equipment or automotive components
Strong communication skills and enjoys working with other people, developing relationships and sharing knowledge
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $68,000 - $126,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
