Job Description:
L3Harris is focused on bringing the most advanced sonar capabilities in the world to the U.S. Navy. We are seeking a software engineer to join our Sensor Processing Systems team. This is a full-time position based out of our Herndon, VA office with an emphasis on classified Department of Defense work. In this role, you will participate in the development and testing of underwater acoustic sensor systems to enable the Navy to detect submarine and torpedo threats. Essential Functions:
Software development and integration of one or more L3Harris software products
Develop and maintain user-friendly graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using Java
Design/Development of real-time signal processing (or related) applications
Porting of existing signal processing algorithms from Matlab to C/C++
Engineering support for integration and testing activities
Collaboration with partner companies and organizations (email, meetings, integration/test)
Qualifications:
Ability to obtain Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Grad degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Proficiency in Java and C/C++
Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Matlab, Python, Bash scripting
Experience with digital signal processing algorithms and their implementation
Experience using software version control systems such as Git or Mercurial
Experienced and comfortable developing software in Linux
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of personal motivation and initiative to learn and acquire new skills
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience in developing high-bandwidth, real-time processing applications
Experience deploying applications using container technologies such as Docker
Experience with Continuous Integration pipelines using Jenkins
Proficiency designing software interfaces and APIs
Experience using the Atlassian stack of development tools such as Jira, BitBucket, and Confluence
Knowledge or experience using the CMake build system
