Job Description:

L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Software Engineer Architect to join our team. This position will be based at our Rochester, NY facility and offers a 9/80 work schedule. The Software Engineer will lead the architecture, design, coding, integration, testing and sustainment of the HF Manpack Radio Software. This position will require participating in all phases of the software development life cycle, providing inputs to the business, and providing guidance and mentorship to other team members.

Essential Functions:

Lead design, development and test activities of embedded software and platforms for software defined radios.

Provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the sector within area of expertise.

Provide inputs and recommend tactics and strategies to the HF product line.

Communicate within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts.

Act as an SME on peer reviews; oversee software defect handling

Consult with cross-functional engineering groups to evaluate interfaces, operational requirements.

Prepare work estimates, provide input to project schedule.

Lead/Support sprint planning activities and tasking

Provide technical support to internal and external customers including factory software introduction support and manufacturing issue resolution.

Ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience developing software in C/C++, Java and Python.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Comprehensive knowledge of embedded software development on software defined radio platforms.

Experience with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)

Experience in delivering fully integrated systems (hardware, firmware, software) in a DoD environment.

Experience integrating software with hardware.

Excellent people and communication skills

Experience developing software in C/C++, Java, and Python.

Experience with DevOps practices and tools

Experience leading technical projects and teams of software engineers to complete complex programs.

Experience with Agile software development and the software development lifecycle.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $138,000 - $256,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
