Job Description:

The Lead Project Engineer holds technical responsibility and authority for the program under the technical authority from Engineering Leadership to execute assigned programs, as well as direct integration with the Program Manager (PM).

This includes but is not limited to:

Coordinate closely with Engineering Functional Leadership and Chief Engineering leadership to retain program cost, schedule and technical oversight.

Assign tasks to engineering teams,

Brief leadership on technical aspects / status of the program,

Planning and execution of program activities,

Documenting, an approval of program plans,

Ensuring life-cycle process adherence,

Risk identification and management,

Overall technical leadership throughout the program lifecycle.

To this end, the individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to/and take directions from the Project Engineer for the assigned program operations.

The Project Engineer is also responsible for program technical performance that extends beyond the "Engineering" functions, to ensure technical compliance within the total operations activities (i.e. extends to the interfaces of manufacturing and HD&L). In addition, Project Engineers are the key technical interfaces to Customers and have the responsibility/opportunity to interact with Customers at every phase of our program lifecycles.

Required Qualifications:

Position requires an active DoD Secret Security Clearance, the ability to maintain the stated clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Ability to travel based on business needs, working extended hours

A bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of nine (9) years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is required:

Demonstrated experience with program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule and budget

Demonstrated understanding of engineering processes and policies

Systems Engineering (including Test Engineering); or,

Software / Hardware Engineering and,

Demonstrated Project Engineering experience

Demonstrated experience with Executive Level Interaction and Communication (including internal and Customer stakeholders).

Preferred Additional Skills:

Overall development and maintenance of a project baseline

VIP/SAM Aircraft experience

Gateway Satellite Services & Service Reporting experience

Subcontract Support experience

Software Deployment experience

Control Account Management CAM or IPT Lead experience

Demonstrated Aircraft Integration, Test and Delivery experience

Demonstrated FAA and/or Military-Type Certification experience

Aeronautical Engineering (electrical, structural, mechanical, stress, mass properties, aerodynamics, etc.)
