The Opportunity

Actuaries on the Pricing & Analytics Team are responsible for pricing new reinsurance opportunities, managing the profitability of existing deals, and seeking opportunities to improve returns on a risk-adjusted basis. Were seeking talented, highly collaborative actuaries who are passionate about using their technical superpowers to deliver outstanding results in a fast-paced environment.

This role will support and lead key components of Martello Res annuity pricing operations. Knowledge of annuity products, experience running and building actuarial models, and hands-on data analytics experience are required. Candidates are expected to take ownership of deliverables and collaborate across teams both internal and external to Martello Re. Direct responsibilities include supporting weekly rate setting recommendations, pricing runs, indicative pricing, performance tracking, model enhancements, and deal execution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the preparation of actuarial analysis, rate setting recommendations, pricing, and profitability tracking of annuity flow business, including Muti-Year Guarantee Annuities (MYGA) and income annuities.

Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualization tools to track performance and support management decision-making.

Recommend and implement process and model improvements to improve efficiency and technical sophistication.

Collaborate with investments, modeling, risk, and valuation teams to ensure consistency in pricing assumptions and methodology.

Support liability origination and new business pricing exercises, including assistance in analysis of transaction profitability and capital impacts under Bermuda EBS/BSCR, US GAAP, and internal capital frameworks.

As needed, perform assumptions reviews working with industry and company experience data, and utilize predictive modeling techniques to recommend assumption revisions.

Produce and review detailed written reports for management summarizing processes, controls, results, and recommendations.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, business, or related field required

ASA or FSA designation

Subject matter expertise in annuity products including fixed deferred annuities, income annuities, and fixed indexed annuities.

At least 5 years of relevant actuarial experience, with a strong preference for prior work in annuity pricing.

Required Skills

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Advanced technical skills in actuarial modeling tools and/or programming languages (e.g., R, Python, FIS Prophet or equivalent). Expertise with Prophet, R, and Git is desired, but not strictly required.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Capable of summarizing and communicating complex topics clearly and succinctly.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Intellectually curious and self-motivated with high standards.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

High ethical standards and integrity.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead specific workstreams, tasks, and deliverables (may include mentoring junior staff)

Location and Travel

Remote employees are expected to travel to Charlotte approximately once per month for 2-3 business days, or more frequently as determined by business needs.
