VGC Group – Scotland are pleased to be recruiting for a Civils Design Manager for our client based in Aberdeen.

This opportunity would place you working for a Tier 1 contractor based out of their Aberdeen office. If you’re looking to positively contribute to Scotland’s development and have experience in a civils design manager role; this is the role for you!

Role: Civils Design Manager

Location: Aberdeen – with occasional travel to Inverness

Salary: up to £75,000

Job Type: Permanent

Qualifications: Professional membership with a relevant institute (e.g. ICE, IStructE), CSCS card, experience in a design focused role.

Role Overview:

Core duties will involve supporting the site-based Buildings project teams during design development stages of building projects across Civil, Structural and Architectural disciplines.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Managing design proposals to meet customer needs, budget constraints, and sustainability goals

Ensuring safety, quality, and innovation in design and construction

Coordinating with internal teams, JV partners, customers, designers, and the supply chain

Leading the development and implementation of design deliverables programs

Supporting BIM integration and digital collaboration

Engaging with statutory bodies for planning, building control, and service approvals

Applying Lean construction techniques to enhance efficiency

Who we are looking for

Experience in design consultancy or design management within a main contracting environment

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work in a matrix organization

Understanding of site-based activities and BIM processes

Professional membership with a relevant institute (e.g., ICE, IStructE)

Valid CSCS card

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and industry-standard design tools
