About the Role
The Environmental Test Technician plays a key role in supporting aerospace environmental simulation testing by performing hands-on R&D and qualification tests on ruggedized components, including military-style interconnects. This position involves executing technical procedures, operating specialized equipment, and producing accurate and comprehensive test documentation. It is well-suited for professionals with a background in aerospace or military-grade component testing who are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced lab environment.
Responsibilities:
Execute benchtop and dynamic tests including mating durability, coupling torque, contact resistance, and conductivity
Research and apply testing standards such as MIL-STD-389, EIA-364, and DO-160 series to develop test plans
Operate and program environmental test equipment including temperature/humidity chambers, Hi-Pot testers, and tensile testers
Accurately record and format test data into organized reports and datasheets for customer review
Instrument test setups with accelerometers and program vibration profiles as required
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to maintain testing compliance and procedural integrity
Follow internal quality management system procedures to ensure testing meets regulatory and customer specifications
Support lab scheduling by working a swing shift following initial training
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in military interconnect or aerospace testing environments
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including charting trends and tracking metrics
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Skilled in writing technical reports and interpreting data
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Solid mathematical aptitude and statistical understanding
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in engineering, applied science, or related technical field
Familiarity with vibration and shock testing methodologies
Experience using environmental simulation tools and instrumentation
Knowledge of quality management systems and aerospace compliance standards
Previous work in an R&D or qualification-level testing lab setting
