Vistra seeks an experienced Quantitative Social Scientist to provide expert understanding of social science disciplines, research methodologies, and statistics to investigate, analyze, and evaluate military family and community policies, programs, and procedures. The ideal candidate will apply specific functional knowledge and working or general industry knowledge to develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. The candidate will be able to work independently with some guidance and may review or guide activities of junior employees.
This position will be full-time onsite at The Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.
Key Responsibilities include:
3+ years of experience using R and Stata to wrangle, clean, and analyze messy medium to large (>5GB) datasets
3+ years of professional or academic experience with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, probability, and related analytic approaches
Experience with creating verbal and written communication products for clients, including presentations and information papers
Translate data into clear, readable documents to be utilized by both technical and non-technical audiences
Provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations
Requirements
Master's in Public Health or a related social science field and at least 3 years of directly relevant experience
Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
May collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, services, or products.
May develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
2+ years of working experience as data analyst, quantitative social scientist, public health analyst, or related quantitative field
Experience working in a military environment or with military datasets preferred
Experience with policy-writing and policy implementation desirable
Knowledge of social science/public health concepts and behavior theory
Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to obtain a security clearance
