Position Purpose:

The School of Natural Sciences, Technology, and Mathematics at Aurora University invites applications for a full-time lecturer/senior lecturer of mathematics. The successful candidate will be able to effectively teach Mathematics courses at all levels such as College Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Differential Equations and other courses. The faculty member must be involved with students outside of classes by mentoring them on future educational and career plans. The faculty member will be expected to be involved in the department and university with curriculum development, program assessments, and engagement in institutional service. This position is a 9-month academic appointment with the possibility of an additional summer stipends contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2025.

Essential Job Functions:

Aurora University expects faculty to be able to deliver high impact education to students in a diverse and inclusive classroom. Aurora University also expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities related to the college experience. To facilitate this highly interactive faculty/student relationship, the typical teaching load is three 4 credit-hour courses per semester. Evidence of successful teaching, or a strong potential for successful teaching, is required. Undergraduate faculty share in the delivery of the general education program, most often by teaching within the university's interdisciplinary core.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education: A master’s degree in Mathematics or related discipline is required.

Experience: The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate effective teaching methods and a strong commitment to student success.

Skills:

Skills: Demonstrate commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Demonstrated effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills. Commitment to staying current in the field. Mentoring undergraduate students.

Physical Requirements: Ability to interact in individuals, either in person or via technology. Ability to be physically present in class and during office hours.

The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
