Position Purpose:
The College of Health and Sciences at Aurora University invites applications for a full-time, lecturer/senior lecturer position in Computer Science starting in Fall 2025. The candidate will teach a wide range of courses in our new, innovative MSCS program, with potential to teach at the undergraduate level. The MSCS program focuses on foundational knowledge, emerging technologies, and sustainable strategies to prepare students for leadership roles in reshaping how technology benefits society. Courses are offered in a hybrid format, with each course including both in-person and online components. The candidate is expected to support student learning by providing mentorship and leadership to students, foster critical thinking and problem-solving, support diverse learning needs, and encourage professional and interdisciplinary skills.

Essential Job Functions:
Teach graduate courses in a hybrid format, with portions of each course delivered in-person at our Aurora campus and other portions delivered online.
Teach approximately 12 credit hours each semester for a total of 24 hours each year.
Work in a collaborative departmental environment and provide service to the department and university.
Actively engage in department, school, and university events, contributing to the community and supporting institutional initiatives.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, exams, and projects to support student learning and ensure grades are recorded accurately and promptly in accordance with institutional policies.
Essential Job Requirements:
Education: PhD in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field is preferred, though consideration will be given to applicants with a master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field with a minimum of five years of industry experience in a technical field.
Experience: Industry experience and/or teaching experience preferred. Ability to work and collaborate with all department faculty and a diverse student body are necessary.

Skills: Ability to teach a wide variety of courses, including Foundations of Emerging Technologies, Ethics and Sustainability in Tech Policy, Big Data Technologies and Architectures, Computer Systems Architecture and Engineering, Cyber-Physical Systems and Security, Cloud Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, Machine Learning and Large Language Models, Advanced Programming Paradigms, as well as specialization courses in Cybersecurity and Data Science.
Physical Requirements: Ability to interact with individuals, both in-person and via technology. Ability to be physically present in class and during office hours. Ability to demonstrate physical activities relevant to the profession.
The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
