Job Title: Principal: Summer School Program
Duration: Spring 2025 to July 23, 2025, with a superintendent/school board presentation during the school year.
Overview: The Camas School District is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to fill the role of Summer School Program Coordinator for our upcoming summer session, running from June 23rd to July 23rd. The Camas School District summer school runs half days in the mornings and serves students 9-12. As the principal, you will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our summer school program. You will lead a team of on-site coordinators, teachers and support staff to support students throughout the summer program.
Responsibilities:
1. Be on site daily to assist with attendance, discipline, provide support for staff, contact parents, support teachers, coordinate with district services, and deal with safety issues.
2. Coordinate and facilitate hiring and staffing processes in the spring.
3. Organize, communicate and student recruitment with principals, students, parents, and teachers.
4. Oversee final grade and transcription process with high school students.
5. Overall program oversight, accountability, and reporting out to the board, superintendent, and community.
Program Planning:
1. Collaborate with the education team to support students in-person and in a hybrid format for summer school coursework.
2. Create a detailed schedule and daily activities plan for the entire duration of the program.
Logistics Management:
1. Coordinate the logistics of the summer school, including classroom assignments, materials, and equipment.
2. Ensure all necessary resources are available and distributed appropriately to facilitate smooth program execution.
Staff Coordination:
1. Recruit, train, and supervise teaching staff, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.
2. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the staff.
3. Support staff and students as needs arise.
Student Engagement:
1. Implement strategies to enhance student engagement and participation in academic and summer school activities.
2. Address any concerns or challenges related to student behavior or performance.
Communication:
1. Maintain clear and effective communication channels with students, parents, and staff.
2. Organize regular meetings to provide updates, address concerns, and gather feedback.
Safety and Well-being:
1. Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants.
2. Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Evaluation and Reporting:
1. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the program.
2. Compile a comprehensive report highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future improvement to be shared with the superintendent and/or school board.
Qualifications:
1. Currently certificated administrator or enrolled in an administrative credential program for WA state
2. Previous experience in coordinating educational programs or similar roles.
3. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of educational best practices and a passion for promoting student success.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
2. Must work in noisy and sometimes crowded environments.
3. Travel to other district schools and facilities.
4. Working evenings and weekends on occasion.

School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
