Salary: $169,125 - $179,961
Purpose: The High School Associate Principal provides collaborative, responsive, and equity-centered leadership in partnership with the Principal and administrative team. This role supports a thriving, inclusive high school environment focused on academic achievement, instructional leadership, positive school culture, and student well-being. The Associate Principal fosters a safe and supportive school environment by working closely with students, staff, families, and the community.
Essential Functions
Instructional Leadership & Student Achievement
· In alignment with the Principal, co-lead a school-wide culture of learning that promotes high expectations for student achievement.
· Guide teachers in implementing effective, culturally responsive instructional strategies aligned with district and state standards.
· Use data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress and improve instructional practices.
· Knowledgeable in Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports.
· Support and facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to enhance teacher collaboration and effectiveness.
· Ensure inclusive programming and access for students receiving special education services and multilingual learners.
· Provide coaching, supervision, and feedback to staff to strengthen instructional practices.
· Keeps the principal informed of current developments as they may relate to the Associate Principal’s realm of responsibility and, when in question, acquires prior approval of any procedures, practices, or programs contemplated.

School Operations & Management
· Support the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring a safe, effective, and welcoming learning environment.
· Supervise and evaluate assigned staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and continuous improvement.
· Assist in managing human and fiscal resources aligned with school improvement goals as directed by the school principal.
· Provide leadership and support in student discipline, attendance, and general supervision across the school campus.
· Coordinate school activities, student programs, and extracurricular events as assigned to promote student engagement and school spirit.
· Collaborate with custodial and facilities staff to maintain a safe and clean learning environment.
· Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
Community & Family Engagement
· Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
· Communicate effectively and consistently with students, staff, and families through various platforms.
· Support the development and coordination of the school calendar, ensuring alignment with district initiatives and school priorities.
· Participate as part of the district leadership team and take on leadership responsibilities that support shared goals across the district.
· Actively contribute to district-wide initiatives and collaborative leadership efforts.

Qualifications
· Valid Washington State Administrator Certificate with a Principal Endorsement.
· Experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and school improvement planning.
· Familiarity with high school instructional practices, graduation pathways, and student support systems.
· Experience leading professional development and mentoring staff.
· Ability to effectively use technology for communication, planning, and instructional support.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous administrative or leadership experience at the secondary level.
· Bilingual skills.
· Experience managing school operations, including discipline, scheduling, and resource allocation.
· Teaching experience at the high school level.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
1. Requires prolonged walking, standing, and supervision throughout the school.
2. Ability to physically assist and/or lift students, up to 50 lbs.
3. Must be able to stoop, bend, walk, and run as needed.
4. Work in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment.
5. Occasional travel to other district schools and facilities.
6. Requires availability for evening and weekend school activities and events.

Benefits & Retirement
School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
