W Magazine is seeking a Visuals Editor to join the Visuals & Content team.
The ideal candidate will have strong production, communication, and organizational skills and a vast knowledge of fashion and photography to fully execute all aspects of a shoot and work in a fast-paced environment.
The role will work directly with the Executive Visuals & Content director in executing large-scale shoots and projects.
A broad-ranging understanding of culture, fashion, photography, and entertainment is key for this role.
This position requires 3 days in office.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with W’s Executive Visual & Content Director on commissioning and production for all well stories and covers (including digital covers) for all 7 Volumes annually
Produce cover shoots, well fashion stories, and smaller features
Handle all bookings of stylist, hair, makeup, manicure, set design, and local production
Assist with location research and prop resourcing
Assist on set for photoshoots in NYC
Responsible for adhering to individual shoot budgets and negotiations with vendors and creative talent
Communicate and manage lo-res, edit, and HR deadlines with the photographer
Work with the art department and production team on managing image orders, retouching notes, and the organization of final images
Confirm creative team credits, and review Instagram tags withthe social team before a story's digital release
Ensure that all teams receive print copies and digital assets when issues and stories are released
Work with the legal team on photographer and talent contracts
Maintain a database of contacts for talent, artists, and future contributors for print and video
Assist with various W large-scale initiatives (i.e., W’s 50th Anniversary Book, W events, etc.)
Qualifications
3-5 years of photo production experience with a strong understanding of editorial photography
Has strong production skills, organization, and a wide variety of industry contacts
Able to manage several projects simultaneously with various lead times
Understands visual trends in photography, fashion, and web
Has a strong grasp of what’s new, what’s trending, and how it relates to W's brand narrative
Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge, and Google Suite
