The Information Technology Technician ( IT Technician) ensures the reliable operation of Goodwill’s technology infrastructure by maintaining computers, networks, and phone systems across 20+ locations in a seven-county region. This role supports mission-critical systems—including retail point-of-sale equipment—to enable efficient operations and service delivery.

Education and Experience Equivalency
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR
Associate degree in Information Technology or a related field
Relevant Experience Examples
A combination of work experience, training, or certifications may be considered in place of a formal degree. Examples of relevant experience include:
Imaged and deployed new desktops, laptops, and peripherals, including inventory tracking and on-site installation.
Diagnosed and resolved issues with wired and wireless networks, including switch configurations, access point placement, and IP conflicts.
Maintained hardware and software for computers across multiple offices and remote locations, including regular site visits and remote troubleshooting.
Skills and Competencies
Hands-on experience with wired and wireless network troubleshooting.
Familiarity with phone systems (VoIP and analog).
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Solid understanding of Windows-based systems and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
Other Requirements:
Must be able to pass required background checks, including the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, and FBI fingerprinting. Goodwill will cover the cost of these clearances upon hire.
Exclusions: To ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, Goodwill conducts monthly exclusion screenings of all employees. These screenings include checks against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE), the General Services Administration’s System for Award Management (SAM.gov), and applicable state Medicaid exclusion lists. Any employee found to be excluded from participation in federal healthcare programs will be ineligible for continued employment in any federally funded healthcare program operated by Goodwill.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation to travel within the service region.
Key Skills and Duties
Provide on-site and remote technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across all Goodwill locations.
Maintain and troubleshoot approximately 300 computers, including administrative desktops, laptops, and retail cash register systems.
Configure, monitor, and repair both wired and wireless networks, including switches, access points, and routers.
Install and support point-of-sale (POS) systems and ensure continuous operation at all store locations.
Assist with the installation and maintenance of VoIP and traditional phone systems.
Track, document, and respond to helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets and assist with equipment lifecycle management.
Support users with basic software issues including Microsoft Office, web browsers, and proprietary applications.
Coordinate with vendors or service providers for hardware repairs, phone support, or escalated technical issues.
Drive to various Goodwill sites throughout the 7-county region as needed (mileage reimbursed).
Lifting and transporting IT equipment (up to 70 lbs.) occasionally.
Some work may occur outside normal business hours during maintenance windows or emergencies.
Performs other duties as assigned for the general benefit of the agency. Some of these other duties may be considered non-essential to the position.
