As a part of exciting expansion of the research within the Pulmonary Division of the Indiana School of Medicine, new postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratories of Dr. Ruslan Rafikov and Dr. Olga Rafikova to study the molecular basis of pulmonary hypertension (PH). In particular, Dr. Rafikov’s lab focuses on understanding the contribution of the newly discovered populations of pulmonary endothelial cells in the pathobiology of PH and investigation of heme-mediated signaling mechanisms. Dr. Rafikova’s lab research focuses on the role of mitochondrial dysfunction, angiogenesis, mechanisms of immune regulation, and sex differences in PH. The team seeks a talented and motivated Postdoc with an excessive experience in molecular and cell biology research. These include but not limited to designing plasmids and virus vectors to manipulate with mammalian cell genome, culturing cells, performing cell death or proliferation assays, experience with flow cytometry and cell sorting. The successful candidate will be actively involved in ongoing multi-project settings in a highly productive research environment. Research opportunities include investigation of the PH pathology on computational, molecular, cellular, preclinical and translational levels. A spectrum of scientific methods includes state-of-the-art multi-omics approaches, machine learning and implementation of the unique genetically modified animal models The Division provides a highly collaborative environment and the possibility to grow. An NIH -funded T32 Training Program is in place. Indianapolis is the capital and most populous city in the State of Indiana.
