**Job Title: TIG Welder **
**Shift: 1st Shift Opportunity **
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder with strong experience in welding and repairing a wide range of steels and other metals. This role supports both plant and maintenance operations and requires a high level of proficiency in TIG welding, particularly on hot and heat-treated materials. The ideal candidate will have experience with tool steels and possess the ability to weld, repair, and maintain complex components.
Key Responsibilities
Perform TIG welding and repairs on various tool steels and other materials such as aluminum, copper, and stainless steel
Weld and repair damaged die sets, casting, and plate steels
Preheat tool steels to specified temperatures and apply proper filler rods
Stress-relieve and reheat tool steels during the welding process
Grind cracks and grooves for proper weld penetration and structural integrity
Assist in machine repair, setup, and changeovers alongside toolroom and maintenance personnel
Operate overhead cranes and assist with safe movement of heavy parts using carts, rollers, and hooks
Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measures, scales, calipers, and micrometers
Maintain clean and organized work area, welding equipment, and supplies
Support plant operations with welding expertise as needed, including during overtime or emergency repairs
Preferred Additional Skills
Ability to braze and MIG/arc weld
Familiarity with operating machine shop equipment
Welding certification strongly preferred
Ability to operate toolroom machinery safely is a plus
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years’ TIG welding experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
High school diploma or GED required; journeyman certification or completion of a trade school program is preferred
Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and stress-relief procedures
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and in high-heat environments
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly
Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods; remain seated for prolonged welding tasks
Must wear PPE at all times (fire-resistant clothing, aluminized gloves, helmet, steel-toed boots, hearing protection)
Flexibility to work extended hours or different shifts as needed
Language & Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety procedures, and equipment manuals
Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and team collaboration
