IT Intern/Co-Op

Job Description

Stevens Engineers & Constructors has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated IT Intern / Co-Op to join our Corporate IT Team, based out of our Canonsburg, PA office. The IT Intern / Co-Op position will be responsible for assisting in various projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and organization of our IT infrastructure. This role will involve a combination of server auditing, network documentation, and basic helpdesk support tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Server Audit Project:

Conduct a thorough review of services, software, and applications running on all servers within the organization.

Document findings and provide recommendations for optimization or consolidation.

Collaborate with the IT team to implement any necessary changes or updates.

Network Documentation Project:

Review and document switch configurations, wiring locations, and VLANs across the network.

Organize and maintain accurate records of network infrastructure.

Assist in the preparation for network rewiring in designated network closets upon completion of documentation.

Helpdesk Support:

Handle minor helpdesk tasks such as troubleshooting user issues, installing software, and providing basic technical assistance.

Log and track support tickets using the designated ticketing system.

Escalate more complex issues to the appropriate IT personnel for resolution.

Required Skills

Basic understanding of server architecture, networking concepts, and IT infrastructure.

Proficiency in documentation and organization.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

General Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (a plus)

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters and understand company policies.
