Estimator
The Estimator for Interior Specialties is required to be a forward-thinking, dynamic professional who has excellent estimating and cost management skills, an internal and external focus, and the desire to be an important member of a growing company. The Estimator for Interior Specialties has a key role within the company and is responsible for managing the preconstruction process for all assigned projects, in a manner that achieves revenue goals and maximizes company profitability and customer retention.
The Estimator for Interior Specialties coordinates and communicates with other employees, management and senior level positions within the company in order to share information, maintain accountability, ensure streamlined processes across departments, and achieve the business plan of the company.
The Estimator position will be compensated through a combination of Base Salary and bonus based on personal revenue goal, hit rate and gross profit goals.
The Estimator will directly perform or be responsible for but may not limited to:
Estimating and winning work through the bidding process
Review Invitations to Bid for relevant scope and information
Review project documents including drawings and specifications
Preform quantity takeoff’s and identification of scope
Create and develop labor and material take-offs
Identifying and appropriately mitigating risk associated with the bids or budgets being compiled;
Working with other departments and company Leadership to maximize hit rate and planned profitability of projects;
Oversee all preconstruction correspondence with all involved parties, including bid invitations, requests for information, addenda, and scope of work clarifications for assigned projects;
Is responsible for gaining a complete understanding of project scope for work related to the request for proposal or request for budget on assigned projects;
Solicit accurate pricing from qualified subcontractors/vendors/suppliers to ensure adequate competitive coverage of each estimate line item;
Organize project site visits if necessary, to define scope and become familiar with the project;
Submit proposal in a professional manner and in the timeframe and format required including scope of work clarifications/qualifications to clarify any relevant information not make clear in the bid documents;
Ensure the transfer of information on awarded projects to the assigned Project Manager via the project handoff;
Performs other duties as required to enhance all aspects of the Preconstruction Department and serve in key role to support the core values and core focus of the company;
Provides feedback for improvement to the preconstruction process;
Participates actively in company business development efforts to identify and track client and project pursuits;
Builds effective relationships with customers, designers, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support the core values and core focus of the company;
Participates in selected industry, client and community events to enhance company image.
