A DAY IN THE LIFE:
As a Hardware Engineer I, you'll support the design and development of analog, power, and embedded systems for cutting-edge spacecraft. You'll contribute to multiple projects, assisting senior engineers in bringing space hardware from concept to production. Whether it's helping with PCB layout guidance, testing hardware for performance, or supporting documentation efforts, you'll play a critical role in the delivery of reliable electronic systems for mission success.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Support Hardware Development: Assist in the simulation, prototyping, testing, and debugging of analog, power, and embedded hardware for spacecraft subsystems.
Learn High-Speed Design Principles: Gain hands-on experience working with high-speed digital interfaces such as Ethernet, PCI-e, LVDS, and RS-422 under the guidance of senior engineers.
Participate in PCB Design Efforts: Provide input on schematic design and work with layout engineers to ensure adherence to design guidelines and constraints.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with software, firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to support design integration, testing, and issue resolution.
Contribute to Engineering Documentation: Help prepare hardware specifications, test plans, design reports, and other technical documentation to support program deliverables.
Assist in Analysis and Testing: Run simulations and assist in signal and power integrity reviews using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
Support Product Integration: Participate in lab testing, troubleshooting, and hands-on validation of hardware during integration and manufacturing phases.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
Embedded Hardware Support: You’re comfortable assisting in schematic design and hands-on debugging of board-level systems.
High-Speed Interface Familiarity: You understand the fundamentals of high-speed digital signals and can contribute to simulation and validation efforts.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: You thrive in a team environment, learning from experienced engineers and contributing to the success of shared projects.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
1 or more years of experience (including internships or academic projects) with board-level hardware development.
Exposure to microprocessor systems, FPGAs, digital logic, and memory architectures.
Experience or coursework related to switching and linear power supply design.
Familiarity with schematic capture and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, SPICE).
Basic understanding of signal and power integrity principles.
Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
