What we need:
Environmental Specialist 2
What we do:
At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.
What we need YOU to do:
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at our Central Office in Columbus.
You’ll help ensure Ohioans have clean air. Not too shabby!
As an environmental specialist, you’ll review, prepare, and process permit applications (including Title V) from air pollution sources including industrial, commercial, and institutional operations to ensure they meet state and federal pollution control regulations.
In the field, you’ll perform compliance monitoring and inspections of regulated facilities and observe performance tests conducted by permit applicants and holders. You’ll evaluate and review submitted compliance data for accuracy and perform emissions calculations using emission factors or mass balance procedures. Back in the office, you’ll prepare inspection reports and issue appropriate follow-up correspondence (there’s always some paperwork, right?).
To understand permitting and compliance needs, you’ll meet and consult with the regulated community and industry. As necessary, you’ll investigate complaints, identify potential air pollution issues, and participate in activities in support of agency litigation and enforcement proceedings against non-compliant sources.
Let’s breeze through those main points.
· Review and process applications for agency-issued air permits for various industrial facilities.
· Perform and report out compliance inspections on air pollution sources at regulated facilities.
· Review data submitted in compliance and fee reports; perform emissions calculations.
· Investigate citizen complaints and potential air pollution issues.
Take a deep breath and go for this opportunity today!
