Full-time Financial Assistant/Payroll, for Killingly Public Schools. This position is 12 months, full-time with benefits. Hourly rate $29.06, 37.5 hrs./wk.

The successful candidate will oversee all facets of the payroll process, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, policies, and regulations; ensure the accurate payment of and reporting in compliance with provisions of tax law, federal and state regulations, and collective bargaining unit agreements.

Financial Assistant/Payroll

Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs payroll processes, ensuring accurate entry of time and attendance data into the payroll system and timely payroll file transmission.

Approves and executes payroll adjustments.

Prepares and maintains payroll procedural documentation, updating as necessary due to process, law, or other changes.

Prepares quarterly and annual reconciliation of 941s and W2s.

ACA Reporting.

Coordinates all Payroll Department functions.

Coordinates with federal, state, and local tax agencies and related entities to resolve payroll disputes and issues.

Manages the retention of required documentation, such as payroll registers and reports, in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Researches and resolves IRS and statutory tax and wage garnishment notices.

Exercises independent judgment and decision-making for all aspects of payroll.

Coordinates and assists with workers' compensation and district audits.

Provide training on the timekeeping system and payroll process to end users, including new hires during orientation.

Prepares payroll-related communications for the district community as needed.

Maintains professionalism and confidentiality as expected.

Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Associates degree in business or related field and/or a minimum of 3 Years of payroll experience

Ability to work effectively with others

Good communication skills

Good organization and problem-solving skills

Ability to meet deadlines

Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Knowledge of fund accounting and Board of Education payrolls

5-8 years of related payroll experience

Familiarity with ADS Profound Software
