Job Description Summary: OhioHealth Research Institute (OHRI) is a centralized research office supporting all research activities at OhioHealth.

The Manager of Research Business Services will drive results and provide daily oversight of research financial activities This includes processing CDAs, leading study contract negotiations, study feasibility, study startup, protocol amendments, and close-out activities for industry, IITs, NCI and multi-site collaborations.

The Manager will lead a team of research finance, post-award, and billing associates to manage daily activities supporting study teams and projects.

The Manager will have a leadership presence and work closely with OHRI's management team, investigators and contractors to spearhead protocol study builds that accurately capture earned revenue and drive month-end financial accounting activities.

This is a hybrid role and on-site requirements will be determined by the direct supervisor.

Responsibilities And Duties: Research Finance Responsible for the day-to-day financial management of research activities in compliance with sponsor and/or regulatory agency parameters.

Assists OHRI Directors with development and maintenance of research budget.

This includes generation and negotiation of comprehensive budget proposal, invoicing, tracking receivables, transferring funds, study closeout, and financial reporting.

Collaborates with principal investigators, research coordinators/nurses, regulatory specialists, data managers and other staff in developing budgets and financial tracking.

Participate in feasibility process for new protocols/grants; provide financial input.

Negotiate budgets, contracts and business terms with external sponsors/collaborators Maintains financial metrics to track, trend and create/present reports provided to research management/leadership.

Leads meetings providing financial updates to clinical research operations staff.

Assist OHRI Directors with developing financial dashboards and other financial summaries.

Understands financial, clinical operations, regulatory and logistical issues unique to conducting research in assigned therapeutic areas.

Reviews and monitor plans to resolve any financial issues including, action to be taken, person responsible and timeline for completion for identified barriers.

Develops strategies and makes decisions to meet the needs of the business operations and uses resources wisely to achieve desired results.

Other duties as assigned.

Research Billing: Ability to learn and apply Medicare qualification reviews, determining SOC vs.

research costs, account system setup, and applying Q modifiers appropriately.

Provides daily oversight and able to perform detailed claims analysis and medical record review as necessary, Ability to learn and review results from external Medicare Coverage Analysis and its applicability to study builds and billing requirements.

Participates in annual research billing audits.

Oversees bill hold process in EPIC.

Identify process gaps and potential billing and coding inaccuracies and working with interdisciplinary teams to address these gaps.

Leadership: Leads, direct, trains and supervise direct reports and serve as informal leader to OHRI associates.

Leads cross functional meetings with OHRI managers and directors as appropriate.

Monitors staff workloads and directs staff to their pre-award and post-award responsibilities and completes employee annual performance evaluations.

Prepare status reports and other communications to ensure research staff receives updated information.

Continuously prioritizes tasks and manages workflow to meet deadlines.

Continuously evaluates resource to meet evolving staffing needs.

Serves as informal leader to OHRI associates.

Work with OHRI Leadership to establish and implement strategic goals for the business operations including revenue versus expense.

Identifies opportunities to improve processes, initiates new strategies, and implements plans to achieve department goals.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (Required) Additional Job Description: Accounting, Business or related field with a minimum of 5 years of clinical research Experience required.

Two of the five years of clinical research Experience should include research financial management.

Research Certification strongly preferred Clinical Research Finance Experience required.

A thorough knowledge of the drug and medical device development processes along with thorough understanding of GCP, FDA and billing policies and recommendations.

Well developed organizational skills, with keen attention to details.

Documented people skills with a hands-on management style.

Goal oriented person who takes initiative, is self motivated and a creative problem solver.

Able to do a clinical and logistical review of protocols and apply this knowledge to operations.

Able to input and evaluate metrics tracking to monitor departmental and associate performance and time expenditures.

A working knowledge of Microsoft office & electronic data capture systems is needed.

Knowledge of OhioHealth data systems, Experience working with a commercial IRB and institutional IRB Experience required.
