Job Title: Sr. Coordinator, Transportation
Shift: 2nd Shift Sunday–Thursday (Start: 4 PM on Sunday, 2 PM on other days)
Work Environment: Office-based with occasional work in warehouse, cooler, and freezer settings (as low as -5 F)
Position Summary
The Sr. Coordinator, Transportation supports transportation and logistics operations by performing clerical tasks and managing backhaul functions. This role focuses on optimizing transportation processes to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation
Handle incoming calls to resolve issues involving drivers, customers, and sales representatives.
Communicate route updates to drivers.
Maintain and update various transportation reports using tools like Excel, Omnitracs, Tandem, and Kronos (e.g., DVIRs, backhaul logs, driver logs, temperature logs).
Manage the damages and shorts process, including vendor communication and documentation.
Assist in training junior clerical staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Backhaul & Logistics
Communicate key information such as backhaul arrivals, dispatch updates, and delivery issues.
Schedule and coordinate pick-up appointments with vendors to optimize backhaul efficiency and cost.
Complete all paperwork related to logistics and communicate updates as needed.
Identify and develop new backhaul opportunities with internal teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
At least 3 years of experience in warehouse administration, dispatch, or logistics.
Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service regulations and local geographic delivery areas.
Experience with systems such as Omnitracs, Tandem, Kronos, XATA, Manhattan, PowerDock, Airclic.
